Primary School Students Walk to Raise Funds for their Peers with Special Needs

Primary school students from twelve Student Care Centres (SCC) operated by MERCU Learning Point will be organising their first ever Charity Walk themed Walk from the Heart, Walk with a Goal on Thursday, 24 November 2016 at 9.00am at Yishun Stadium (103 Yishun Avenue), aimed to instill the importance of giving back to the society in the students.

The SSDB is a President’s Challenge initiative by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) to encourage preschools to create platforms for children to give back to the community. The event is expected to draw a 9,000-strong crowd, comprising parents, teachers and children from a total of 316 participating centres. Gracing the event as Guest-of-Honour is President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam.

Going the extra mile for charity

About 550 pupils, parents and teachers took part in a 3km charity walk yesterday that raised $7,000 for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore. The primary school pupils were from 12 student care centres operated by private education company Mercu Learning Point.
